The Pendès region has always been a wine-producing area leader in technology, with oenologists and wineries in constant renovation. It is a DO (Designation of Origin) which has been catalogued as a producer of white wines and cava, but in the last years, it has been experiencing an important revolution in the production of red wines of high quality, admired by sommeliers and experts around the world.
We will start by the Albet i Noya winery, located in Sant Pau d'Ordal, pioneers in the ecological agriculture in Spain. The Can Vendrell modernist cellar was built in 1925 and this is where most of the vinification processes take place. The new Xapallà cellar was finished in August 2004. In it you can find the temperature-controlled warehouse, the barrel hall and a new bottling plant.
After having lunch we will go to Avinyonet del Penedès, a village located around 6 Km away. Just outside the village we will find a lovely winery: Can Ràfols dels Caus.
